LAWS ARE FOR EVERYONE, NO MAN IS ABOVE THE LAW AND NO MAN IS BELOW IT

This thought continues to remain true today. Gender equality corresponds to women and men achieving the same level of exposure, empowerment, responsibility, and involvement in all aspects of public and private life. It also entails providing women and men with equal access to and distribution of resources, as well as valuing them equally. Gender equality seeks to alter societal frameworks that lead to the perpetuation of unequal power dynamics between men and women.

Laws, legislation, institutional mechanisms, civil society collaboration, and sufficient funding are all essential resources for attaining proper gender equality. These policies should adhere to international standards and benchmarks and employ a two-pronged strategy: (A) concrete measures for women's progression, including positive action, and (B) a gender mainstreaming approach in all policies and measures.

As comprehensive research has shown in a variety of contexts, when women have equal opportunities to be socially and politically engaged as men, economies and cultures prosper, benefiting everyone, including men.
