T/W: harassment, abuse, suicide

Harassment is a form of violence in which a person's dignity is violated. Undoubtedly, this act is frowned upon because despite our differences, respect is always essential. We are all only human beings living in the same world, and our gender does not distinguish us from one another; it is merely a reflection of our identity.

Sexual harassment may occur in a variety of social and economic backgrounds, ethnic groups, professions, and public places. Sexual harassment can make it difficult for an individual to work, find accommodation, attain an education, feel safe and secure, and participate completely in society. Physical and mental conditions are taken into consideration such as anxiety, depression, exhaustion, weight loss, nausea and stomach problems, failure to sleep, detachment from relationships, self-blame, low self-esteem, and post-traumatic stress disorder are all physical and emotional symptoms of sexual assault.

Young people may especially become vulnerable to sexual and gender-based abuse. As a result, one can withdraw from school-related activities, in addition to experiencing the aforementioned effects. In order to cope, it is a possibility that one may turn to drugs and/or alcohol in search for an escape. They also may consider or attempt suicide in extreme cases, if trauma does not resolve, it is vital to seek the help of a Mental Health Professional.

Moreover, it is more than a lesson but a value specifically empathy to understand others, in this case, make allowances for the spectrum of gender. Adhering to empathy will prevent unpleasant incidents as well as a slew of misunderstandings and problems.

One's insensitive actions may scar people for the rest of their lives alongside inappropriate behavior could create a tremendous impact to the oppressed and the oppressor. The journey through life is already unyielding enough, as human beings, one should not make it more difficult for ourselves and yet for others. One’s own insecurities and negativity can greatly affect an individual’s mental health in ways we may or we may not know. Possessing the patience to understand and learn from other people should be deemed common in order to avoid indifferences that could lead to maltreatment.
